The 2010 census places Shelby Township with a population of about 73,000 people. This makes Shelby Township one of the fastest growing Metro Detroit cities. Shelby is a very quaint township with only 35 square miles of area. Fortunately for Shelby, there are still many classy restaurants, fun parks, and relaxing activities that make up that area.
Michigan by the Bottle
The founders of Michigan by the Bottle realized that not everyone can make it to Michigan’s admirable wine trails and tours. So MBTB decided to bring Michigan wine straight to Metro Detroit! They choose to focus on high-quality wines produced by their six partner wineries: Chateau Aeronautique, Chateau de Leelanau, Domaine Berrien Cellars, Gill’s Pier Vineyard & Winery, Peninsula Cellars and Sandhill Crane Vineyards. MBTB wanted to offer Michigan wines to both wine tasting beginners and aficionados alike, and they did a great job! Da Francesco’s
Da Francesco’s is an authentic Italian restaurant that has been a Shelby classic for over 15 years. The Belcastro family has taken pride in their restaurant since its start. Their goal is to offer authentic dishes and atmosphere, as well as providing friendly service. Of course they offer all of the Italian classics, but their well known specialties include the pasta marinara, veal di bosco, homemade gnocchi, and homemade cannelloni. Don’t forget, no Italian restaurant can be complete without an extensive wine menu.
Sahara Mediterranean Grill
Sahara Mediterranean Grill offers all of the classic Mediterranean, Chaldean and Middle-Eastern dishes. All dishes are prepared daily by a team of chef’s who have proven their keep. Sahara chooses to buy all meat, vegetables, and even spices as fresh as possible. Most of their dishes are based off of timeless family recipes that originated from the culture and heritage of the Chaldeans. Sahara grill strives to keep their meals fresh and distinct in order to keep customers coming back for more.
LaVida Massage
If you haven’t treated yourself to a professional massage, then you haven’t lived. The LaVida Massage franchise realized that in our hectic world, we need a convenient way for all people to relax, reduce stress, and improve health and well being. Stony Creek Metropark
Stony Creek is a very popular and large Metropark located partly in Shelby. Stony is about 4,400 acres large and offers a wide range of activities during every season. There are about 14 miles of mountain biking trails, 8 miles of hiking trails, 6 miles of foot trails and 6 miles of paved trails for joggers, inline-skaters and cyclists. Other activities include an 18-hole golf course, two beaches, picnic areas with basketball courts and baseball fields, a nature center, 26-hole disc golf course. Additionally, there are options to rent rowboats, paddle-boats, canoes and kayaks. Being open all year, they also offer winter activities such as snowboarding, sledding and tobogganing hills, ice skating rink, and cross country skiing trails.
Sherwood Brewing Company
Ray Sherwood and his wife Lisa opened their doors in 2006 to their unique brewing company. Sherwood Brewing Company serves up fresh and locally bought products in their amazing menu; featuring pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, soups, tasty appetizers and homemade ice cream flavors. Sherwood’s brews all of their own sodas, wine and beer in house. Some local favorites include Mistress Jade’s Hemp Ale, Buxom Blonde and Entire Buzz Honey Porter. They have also been the recipient of WDIV’s “4 the Best” Best Brewpub award for 6 consecutive years in a row!
