Welcome to Clarkston, Michigan: Located in Oakland County, the “Village of Clarkston” was founded in 1832.  It is a smaller area, but historically rich city. You really shouldn’t let its small size fool you. Clarkston has many unique and charming entertainment options.  These great options include the Clarkston Union Bar and Kitchen, The Union Woodshop, Pine Knob and DTE Music Theatre, and a few cozy shops.  Clarkston is also home to many exciting parades and festivals.

  • Clarkston Union Bar and Kitchen: The Union Bar and Kitchen (featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) has now been a Clarkston classic for years.  The Union is well known for their award-winning macaroni and cheese and many other handcrafted dishes.  Owner Curt Catallo (who also owns the popular Vinsetta Garage) decided to repurpose an old church for his rustic restaurant and even used the original church pews.  The Catallo family likes to keep things unique and handcrafted, which they have surely done with The Union Bar.
  • The Union Woodshop: It probably should not surprise you that the Catallo family owns yet another award winning restaurant. Right around the corner from the Union Bar and Kitchen is The Union Woodshop (which was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.)  The interior decor features rustic accents and unique woodsy elements. The Woodshop is best known for its flawless smoked meats and hand perfected pizza pies.  The mastermind behind the menu (and wood smoker) is Executive Chef Aaron Cozadd.  Chef Cozadd decided to keep the menu hip and up to date, but didn’t want to lose the authenticity of Alabama smoked meats.  You really cannot go wrong when choosing the Woodshop.
  • Pine Knob/DTE Energy Music Theatre: One of Clarkston’s largest attractions is of course, DTE Energy Music Theatre.  DTE has hosted thousands of memorable events since its opening in 1972.  The music theatre is a very spacious venue with ample room to wander around and socialize. The theatre is also connected to Pine Knob ski and snowboard hill (which is one of Clarkston’s largest winter attractions.)  DTE is also known for its large and affordably priced lawn seating.  Upcoming events include Rascal Flatts, 89x Birthday Bash, Dave Matthews Band, Heart, Chicago and many more.  So if you’re feeling bored this summer, there is always an exciting concert at DTE.

Clarkston may be a very small city, but it offers big city entertainment with award winning restaurants and venues.
